Riley Recreation League COVID-19 Update 4/14/2020UpdatedWednesday April 15, 2020 byGreg Ewing.
HOW DOES RILEY RECREATION LEAGUE HANDLE THE PAUSE OR DELAYED START OF THE REGULAR SEASON?
RRL has paused or delayed the start of regular season activities in accordance with both CDC and Local/State regulations and guidance from Babe Ruth League.
DO WE HAVE A DATE FOR WHEN ACTIVITIES WILL RESUME?
As of 4/12/2020, a date to resume is yet to be determined. Babe Ruth League is reviewing potential start dates with medical professionals. When guidance changes to allow for activities to begin, Babe Ruth League will inform Riley Recreation League through email, social media channels and their website (www.baberuthleague.org).
CAN RILEY RECREATION LEAGUE EXPAND PLAY TO LATER INTO THE SUMMER OR EVEN FALL?
Yes! The RRL Executive Board has discussed pushing play into the summer months. We are tentatively planning on starting summer league on June 15th – August 7th with tournament play August 10th through August 14th and the end of season picnic on Saturday, August 15th. This is a tentative schedule and solely dependent on guidance from the CDC, Local/State regulations and guidance from Babe Ruth League.
WITH THE ABRUPT CANCELLING OF HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL, HAS RILEY CONSIDERED THIS AGE GROUP?
Yes! We are working on the logistics of opening Babe Ruth for ages 13-15 and 16-18. This league will run in parallel with the Cal Ripken League but is subject to the current outbreak.
IS THE HONEY CREEK MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAMS STILL PLANNING TO PLAY?
Yes! Like all other teams, including MLB, everything came to a halt with the outbreak of COVID-19. We are formulating a plan to proceed with Middle School Baseball to also run in parallel with the summer season. Because of this unprecedented situation we are faced with, your son will remain at the grade level when schools were shut down.

WHAT IF A 2020 SEASON DOES NOT HAPPEN?
Yes, this is a possibility and we will cross that bridge when the time comes.
